Why should I test my electric vehicle’s battery?
With the rapid development of electric vehicles, cars from earlier model generations are now reaching an age where their warranties have often already expired. Although battery repair technologies are improving and component prices are decreasing, repairing or replacing a battery is still a significant financial investment if it becomes necessary.
This introduces additional variables, especially in the used EV market and for long-term owners assessing future maintenance costs.
So, there’s a pristine used hybrid or electric car for sale! Or is there?
By testing the battery condition before making a purchase, you can avoid expensive surprises.
Or is it time to move on from the old car and let the bidding games begin for a new one?
It’s far more comfortable to make a deal with full transparency when a condition report is available to all parties—leaving no room for uncertainty after the sale.
A battery health test is a sensible way to obtain an accurate picture of the battery’s current condition and to detect potential issues early. The test results provide a clear foundation for evaluating the situation and planning any necessary actions.
The report from the AVILOO Premium battery test is an excellent tool to support vehicle transactions, offering added value for both parties.
-
The buyer gains insight into the battery’s condition and can realistically assess future costs.
-
The seller can be confident that the vehicle is sold fairly, without hidden issues.
AVILOO’s test report has quickly established itself as a reliable and easily comparable benchmark in the industry.
Two different test levels
AVILOO tests are available in two different scopes.
AVILOO Flash (Price €95)
The quick test is a convenient fast check, for example when buying a used electric car—before you sign on the dotted line. Book an appointment and stop by even during a test drive! You’ll quickly receive a report of the most important values, giving you a clear overview of whether the deal is a hidden risk—or a solid purchase.
AVILOO Premium (Price €129)
The more comprehensive Premium test is “The Battery Health Test.”
It provides significantly more detailed information and is ideal, for example, as a post-purchase verification or for owners who want a thorough assessment of their vehicle’s condition.
The measurement is carried out during driving, and the device evaluates all real-world values that occur throughout the driving cycles.

What information does the battery health test provide?
The battery health test reveals the condition of the battery as accurately as possible—without physically dismantling the battery cells.
The test determines:
-
The battery’s true SoH (State of Health) value
-
How well balanced the battery pack is
-
Whether it discharges logically and consistently throughout the cycle
Unlike so-called quick tests that only read estimated SoH values and charge cycle counts from the vehicle’s own diagnostics, this measurement records real data from the high-voltage battery during the test. This includes voltages, currents, temperatures, and much more.
The test’s accuracy and real-time driving analysis ensure that the battery’s actual capacity is reliably measured rather than merely estimated—taking multiple variables into account.
As part of the process, all collected data is analyzed by AVILOO’s specialist experts, who may add their own professional remarks to the report based on the findings.
